Looking to expand my horizons, I recently was inspired by a suggestion to consider photographing subject matter that included urban decay, abandoned buildings, etc...

Over the years, I have documented such items, but never in a deliberate manner, more by happenstance.

So, with the Hudson Valley fully engaged in "Stick Season", I set sail looking for subject matter in my town that suited the bill. In the town where I live and surrounding areas, it was not difficult to come across images such as this one.

This old abandoned farm barn (there are many other areas such as this locally) is only a five minute drive from my home. When scouting the area a few days prior to this capture, I came across this dilapidated barn with a ladder conveniently propped up alongside the "Drink Milk" door. One can easily assume that this was once a dairy farm back in the day. My town was a huge supplier of milk and other dairy products to New York City in the early 1900's.
